Gonzo's Quest Virtual Reality (VR) created by top software provider Net Entertainment, was originally set to be released back in the Summer of 2018 but it is still yet to make an appearance.

Gonzo’s Quest VR Prototype

Back in 2018, we were given a brief introduction as to what to expect from the new VR release:

Imagine walking into a vibrant jungle and you see a parrot and a cute little man running behind it, that cute little man being Gonzo. Gonzo is looking for one thing – El Dorado, the land of gold.

He notices something behind you and you turn around to see what he is looking at, there you see fifteen blocks disappear and suddenly El Dorado is before your eyes. Just as Gonzo makes his move and runs past you into the Golden Temple, fifteen new blocks fall into view.

Now you are holding the card and it is your turn to place a bet. The parrot is fluttering to your right, there is the payment overview on your left and if you look forward you can see Gonzo waiting for your push of the button.

Brief History of Gonzo’s Quest From Then to Now

In 2011, NetEnt released the original Gonzo’s Quest slot machine which offers 20 paylines and has proved to be extremely popular even to this day. Since this release, a subsidiary of NetEnt called Red Tiger Gaming created Gonzo’s Quest Megaways which uses the same game mechanics as the original but extends the payline from 20 to between 64 and 117,649.

Then at the 2017 International Casinos Exhibition (ICE Fair) known as the most important exhibition in the world of casinos, all developers were here but one booth took all the attention. At NetEnt you could play a demo VR version of Gonzo’s Quest. NetEnt announced then that the complete game would be in 3D with all the trimmings and would be released in 2018.

We’ve still not seen any more of this game since the ICE Fair, until now. NetEnt has been given a push in the right direction thanks to the huge rise in sales during the Corona Crisis. The game is set to be compatible with all iOS, Android and Windows software.

Where to Play Gonzo’s Quest

What to Expect from Gonzo’s Quest VR

While the full game is yet to be released a few things are already clear. The game will most definitely be in 3D but stay as close to the original version as possible. With this information, you can count on an ascending multiplier, the same blocks and the so-called ‘cascading reels’ where you get new blocks after each combination.

The main difference will be that the blocks in the slot now really fall from the sky and you can see all your options by looking around you. There is no option of a pause screen, but everything you need can be seen around you.

With any grande vitória, it rains gold coins from the sky and you get to do a dance of joy with Gonzo himself. All of this adds to the realistic immersion of the game.
